New Technologies have Changed the Way IELTS Essay

The advent of new technologies has led to changes in young children’s recreational activities. In my view, the drawbacks of those changes are more significant than the benefits.

On the one hand, the appearance of new devices has brought certain values to children. First, more choices are now available on computers or any other electrical devices that are connected to the Internet. This would satisfy children of different preferences for entertainment, such as watching movies, listening to music or playing games on online platform. Second, some useful skills and necessary qualities can be either initially obtained or horned by playing electronic games. Scientifically, racing games help develop motor skills in later life. Also, creativity and fast reflexes which are of great use in the future can be enhanced though puzzle or shooting games.

Despite those said advantages, I still believe that the downside of the emergence of modern technological devices in children’s leisure time is more worrying. The first drawback is that children might develop a passive lifestyle and possibly isolate themselves from society. This is because this way of entertainment is extremely addictive, and children therefore are likely to spend hours in their room without any communication with the outside world if exposed frequently. Furthermore, exposure to technology could lead to deterioration in health as hours spent on using computers can cause tremendous harm to eyesight. In fact, children at school age are suffering from short-sight due to playing video games or browsing Facebook for a long time.

In conclusion, it seems to me that, regarding children’s leisure activities, the benefits of newly introduced technological devices are eclipsed by the disadvantages.

IELTS Essay Topic Technology

Currently, it is true that the way children spend their leisure time has been changed by new technology. While this has several benefits, I believe that the drawbacks far outweigh them.

On the one hand, there are some advantages to children spending their spare time on advanced technologies. Firstly, many children tend to enjoy playing computer games, and such games might help improve their cognitive development. For example, strategic games require players to be good at problem-solving and be able to deal with unexpected situations, so children who play these games can better their logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Secondly, since the source of online information is huge and readily available, young people might benefit from early exposure to the Internet. If people are able to browse the Internet at a young age, they can start their learning process earlier, and as a result, can advance their knowledge as they grow up.

However, I would argue that the advantages discussed above are outweighed by the disadvantages. One main drawback is that children who enjoy spending time in front of the computer screen are often reluctant to do exercise. Low physical activity levels are likely to result in children becoming overweight, and in turn, they would end up being obese. In addition, some games tempt people to continue playing for hours, which could lead to gaming addiction. In role-playing games, for instance, people might need to stay in front of the computer for several hours in order to progress to higher levels, and therefore children may spend an excessive amount of time on games.

In conclusion, while there are some advantages to children spending time on advanced technologies, it seems to me that the disadvantages are more significant.

Technology and Children IELTS Writing Task 2

In this modern age, Children have altered their usual habits in their leisure time under the influence of new technology. In my view, this has negatively impacted on health and studies of many children as compared to any benefits it might bring.

Admittedly, there are some benefits of technology for youngsters. Today, technology has added more options to the range of entertainment sources. For example, children now play online games at home with other players in case of the bad weather or alternatively use social networking sites such as Facebook to talk to friends who are far away. In addition to this, technology has created many affordable ways of getting information online. Many young people now in their free time search and learn new things from online sources such as Google and YouTube.

Despite the advantages above, I think technologies have more damaging effects. The first one is a sedentary lifestyle which results from spending too much time using the computer or mobile phone and neglecting some outdoor activities. This lifestyle is prone to entail many health problems such as obesity and damaged eyesight. Besides this, some healthy sports and arts activities can disappear in the future if there are too few people interested in them. Another outcome is poor academic performance in students when children become seriously addicted to the games and social networks and lose their attention in the classroom.

In conclusion, beneficial as new technologies have been for the quality of children’s leisure time, I assert they are likely to cause more problems in the long run on physical condition and education of progeny. Therefore there is an urgent need to control these issues appropriately.

IELTS Writing Task 2 on Children Leisure Time

We live in an age where technology has changed the way of life, especially for children. The modern world is equipped with many things that can affect the child’s psyche both negatively and positively. However, the disadvantage of growing reliance on technology outweighs the benefits. This essay will discuss both the perspective in the upcoming paragraph.

To commence with the advantages, the Internet and multimedia are filled with a lot of information and updates that a child can use to develop their mind and learn new things in their free time. They can use this platform to explore just about anything and guide their path to success. For instance, many entrepreneurs often say that they are inspired by information available on the Internet. Moreover, places like social media will help them feel connected to the world and find out what they really want to achieve in their lives.

However, we cannot ignore the shortcomings of this glorious world. Children become addicted to games and social media, which causes them to develop health problems such as obesity and poor eyesight. They can sit in one place for hours, playing games and viewing explicit content. To illustrate, last year’s data show that in India alone, 60% of teenagers are overweight and major health problems. In addition, because of the Internet, they spend less time with their parents and friends, become impolite and rude in their behavior, which further worsens the connection between them.

To conclude, advances in technology have both pros and cons. But it’s clear that disadvantages destroy more things that advantages can’t fix.
